With several other candidates in the field, Long Island Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin has been locking up support around the state from local committees and elected officials. Zeldin is hoping to become the first GOP candidate elected governor in New York since George Pataki in 2002. Other candidates including Andrew Giuliani and 2014 nominee Rob Astorino, the former Westchester County Executive, are also running.

Among those backing Zeldin’s campaign is the Albany County Republican Party, chaired by Berne highway superintendent Randy Bashwinger.
