Former Massachusetts State Senator Ben Downing, a native of Pittsfield, is running for governor. Downing, a Democrat who spent a decade in the Senate representing Western Massachusetts, says he is running to help the commonwealth reach its potential. Downing stepped down from the Senate in 2016 and has been living in East Boston while working at the renewable energy company Nexamp.
